Guardian Program
We believe that every dog should have a home and a family to love them. That is why we occasionally use guardian homes for some of our breeding dogs that do not live in our own home.
A guardian home is a family that co-owns a labrador or Poodle of ours while we retain breeding rights. The dog lives in your home just like any other pet, but will come to us for breeding purposes. Once retired, the breeding rights discontinue and you are the sole owner of the dog. Approved guardians will receive a well-bred, health tested puppy free of charge.
Guardian families are responsible for all routine costs associated with owning a dog, including all food and supplies, regular vet visits, vaccinations, deworming, heartworm, tick/flea prevention, etc. We, the breeders, cover all costs associated with health testing, breeding and whelping, (including spay or neuter once breeding contract has ended) and all food costs for when the dog is in our care.
Females
For our female guardians, we retain exclusive breeding rights for up to 4 litters (never bred before her 2nd heat or after her 6th birthday). She will stay with us for one week during breeding, then return to us 7 days before her expected due date. She will stay with us from then until the puppies are weaned at 8 weeks of age, then will return home to you. During her stay with us, you are welcome to come and visit your dog and interact with her and the puppies.
Once the guardian dog has completed her breeding career and she is spayed (at the cost of the breeder), the contract ends and the dog is yours to keep. Please remember, all females will live in our home for up to four 9-week periods in her lifetime. If you are not comfortable with your dog leaving your home for extended periods of time, the guardian program is not for you. We treat all of our guardian dogs as our own and they receive the absolute best care when they stay with us.
Males
For our male guardians, we retain breeding rights until his 7th birthday. He will be used with our females only. He will be required for approximately 1 week per scheduled breeding (usually 3-4 dates/visits/breedings) We guarantee at least 1 week's notice for all breeding requirements and expect our males to be used a minimum of 4 times per year (exact numbers are dependent on heat cycles and waiting lists).
