ABOUT US

10 things that make us Different:

1. We pride ourselves in good ethics and transparency.

2.  We are a family based breeder of chocolate and silver labradors and labradoodles. We raise every single puppy in our home.    We expose all of our pups  daily, to a variety of different people of all ages, and abilities.  Our puppies leave our home very social and comfortable with people and other dogs.

3.  We health and genetic test ALL of our breeding dogs.  No exceptions!  This includes DNA testing to ensure our dogs are all pure.  we also include testing for over 180 traits and genetic conditions.  We pride ourselves in producing healthy puppies.

4.  Our main focus and goal is health and temperament.  We work diligently and hard to produce dogs that will thrive with different families and their hobbies. Our growing curriculum helps our puppies grow and be exposed to many surfaces, toys, noises, smells etc.

5.  We Enjoy working directly with our families.  I enjoy speaking personally with each potential customer.  We want you to get to know us and us to get to know you. We do not breed unless we have an established waiting list!  I never want to contribute to any over population of dogs not finding great homes, and would gladly re home any dog that was bred by us at any time during their life.

6.  All of our dogs and puppies are patients of tavistock veterinarian clinic.  All of our puppies health checks, vaccines and any other health concerns are provided by the exceptional staff there.

7. We enjoy taking our puppies through our growing and developing program. We want to help develop their skills and confidence during their time here with us. Daily activities are an important part of developing well mannered, compliant and confident puppies that will thrive in many different households.

8. Our puppies are fortunate to enjoy both indoor and outdoor play spaces. We have a large fenced backyard that includes a separate enclosed puppy area. This keeps all puppies safe in a space that they can explore, run and play in.

9. At 7 weeks old we do an extensive evaluation of each puppy. This is done individually, in an unfamiliar room, with an unfamiliar human and dog. This evaluation gives us a lot of valuable information about each puppy and their personality. This information we pass onto every puppy family waiting to pick their pupp.  Puppies are picked by each family/person in order of deposits received.

10. Our puppies are all dewormed biweekly (2,4, 6 and 8 weeks of age). This ensures they can play safely outdoors. Our vets provide and oversee all deworming medications. Our puppies are all microchipped and genetically guaranteed for 2years. Each puppy is registered to you with all of your contact details.  There is a specific list of genetic conditions that we avoid breeding.  We guarantee against these conditions until the puppies 2rd birthday.

Our Take on CKC

We do not have a membership with the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club). Keep in mind, a membership in the CKC (or any other club) is not any guarantee of quality.
It consistently surprises me how many people are still under the false pretense that being a member of a dog club and owning a "registered dog" must mean that the breeder is reputable, ethical and responsible! Honestly, all this membership means is you pay your annual dues to a club. Canadian law allows for only one kennel club in the country, and it does not conduct inspections, ensure healthy living quarters, or have any way to control how their members treat their dogs. Any breeder that owns a CKC dog can be a member. The rest of us that focus on health, temperament and genetic diversity cannot be a member of the CKC without having CKC registered dogs.
So keep in mind, the next time you inquire about a membership card, please remember that no club can save a puppy from a cruel existence - only you can. Do not pick a breeder who would lead you to believe that a membership card is a license for ethical practises and healthy dogs.  Some CKC breeders are ethical and highly reputable breeders, with impressive resumes and ribbons (if that's what your into!). Just be aware that this membership does not automatically mean an ethical breeder. Also keep in mind that if a breeder focuses on showing their dogs in competitions or breeds for confirmation, they have to breed CKC. CKC only allows their dogs in the show ring. If you want to be in the show ring or place high value in confirmation (a fancy genetic resume of ribbons and show status) than CKC is for you. For us, we breed for family homes, companionship or therapy and overall health and good temperament dogs. For us, we place little pressure on CKC dogs. We purchase and support ethical and purposeful breeding of healthy happy dogs. Please do your research and find a breeder that is aligned with your needs and views to work with .There is no one size fits all approach to dogs.

We take a $300 non refundable deposit to be added to our waiting list. This ensures that we try our best to only breed when we have families and people waiting for our puppies. The names on the waiting list will be contact in order of deposits received,  when a successful breeding has taken place. If there is a sex, color etc that you would prefer and the litter born doesn't have what you were looking for, you have the option to defer your spot to the next litter.  Once the litter is born we contact our list to let them know.  Once evaluations are completed, after 7 weeks old, puppies are preparing for go home day and vet appointments. Puppies are picked by each family, in person, on go home day.

We post pictures and videos each week of the growing puppies and their progress on our social media. In person visits can be scheduled after the puppies are 4weeks old. Virtual visits can be done at any time.
